World Cup 2010: Flashback Four Years & 94,000 Views

I can’t believe it is four years already since my friends and I sat down to watch Australia vs Japan at 2am in Sydney, Australia. For some reason I thought I would film us watching it. With 6-minutes to go in the game I was glad I did as the Socceroos came back from 0-1 down to beat Japan 3-1. The guys didn’t seem to relise I was filming until after the first few goals so this wasn’t a performance but merely the boys being caught up in the moment.

On the eve of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, I thought I would re-upload the video in full-quality, something that wasn’t possible on YouTube four years ago.

Looking foward to watching a lot of games this World Cup and I will post anything worthwhile here so keep checking back here.I am supporting Australia of course and anyone playing Italy and France.

Things I Like: Adidas Marathon 80 sneakers

I have been doing some experimenting with my running shoes as well. After going for support by purchasing a pair of Brooks running shoes I have also been wearing my Adidas Marathon 80s which I purchased back in 2004. Here is a new pair I just received via the US (eBay) because I love the old ones so much.

Here are the old ones which isn’t bad for 6 years of wear.

I have made a New Years resolution for 2010 to run at least 2km everyday for a year. One month down and going strong. My usual week would involve a weekend run of 8-16km, a few 4-5kms during the week and the rest a 2km speed run. I am also aiming for a Half-Marathon (21km) hopefully once a month.

My first half-marathon was my birthday 23rd January which took 3-hours exactly. Now to get faster and stronger.

Music Projects: Leroy Lee debut album

Over the past two or so years I have been lucky to witness the creation and carefully considered refining of an artwork by a good friend known as Leroy Lee. From early recordings and demos through to the unmastered version Leroy handed me a few months back, I have listened to each song being built up, layered, then sometimes stripped back until it is exactly how Leroy had envisioned.

I am happy to say that his debut album is pressed and official released on December 4th, 2009. I have a few advanced copies of the paper sleeve CD which I am honored to say includes a photo (inside the foldout sleeve) that I took during a photo shoot Leroy Lee a few months back.

The CD artwork itself is designed by Greedy Hen who have designed all of Leroy Lee‘s releases to date and seems to compliment the feel of the music so well.

The album is available in music retailers from the 4th but it already on iTunes for digital purchase. Buy it on iTunes

You can check out more of Leroy Lee @ MySpace which also features the music video for Mountain Song which I directed and camera operated.

Photography: Akil the MC (Jurassic 5)

I was lucky enough to be at Akil the MC’s (Jurassic 5) Sydney performance as I was taking photographs for Sydney hip-hop group, Free Form, who were supporting with Morganics. The last time I saw Jurassic 5, they were in Sydney with The Roots at the Hordern Pavilion.

Akil’s beats and lyrics were amazing. Hope the photos portray the energy that was in the room. Let me know what you think.

Karl Pilkington look-a-like @ Speakers’ Corner – Hyde Park, Sydney

I was intrigued with this soap box speaker when I was doing some filming in Hyde Park, Sydney. I might revisit and see if I can shoot a little documentary with this gentleman as I was interested in his thoughts and ideas on happiness. Maybe the reason I like him is that he looks a little like Karl Pilkington (The Ricky Gervais Show.) Thoughts?
